    Description

This is an original Model 1855 Tumbler and Wire Punch tool used during the Civil War.  One Tumbler and Wire Punch was issued with every ten muskets, making it a one of the more rare tools used during the Civil War.  They were not made for carbines.
The smaller of the two pins pushed out the band springs of the stock when needed.  The larger pin was inserted into the hole in the lock tumbler left when the screw was removed.
Then the other end of the tool could be hit with a hammer to push the tumbler from the lockplate.
    It is 3½ inches long.
    The swinging arm moves easily.
This Tumbler and Wire Punch is in excellent condition, with much of the original bluing remaining.
