  • Condition: A pair of bumper guards for a series of years for the American LaFrance apparatus. One perfect one could be made from these and then others could be cast. If you need only one, this is for you. The complete piece is roughly brazed but it is all there and could be re-done so as to be perfect. Where else can this piece be found?

    Description

    This is an extremely hard-to-find pair of bumper guards (bumperettes) for the front bumper of the 1934, 1935, 1936, etc. series of fire apparatus manufactured by American LaFrance.  They are rough, to be sure.  One is complete but was broken and then poorly brazed.  It could be taken apart and properly re-brazed.  It is all there.  From that then perfect piece, several more could then be cast as needed for a vintage truck or for re-sale.  Perhaps one perfect one could be more easily assembled by taking the complete one apart and then fitting the incomplete piece to it, thus then having a perfect piece.  Just putting these out there for the avid and purist collector in need of one (or more) as these were almost always broken when the trucks were in service.  Bad design right from the beginning!  But... here they are!  Sorry, but shipping will be a bit high on this one as they are heavy, so I'm starting them a little on the low side, as you can see.
